Black History Brain Bowl is one of James S. Rickards' premier organizations. The Black History Brain Bowl club focuses on the study of many achievements of African Americans throughout our nation's history. In preparation for district and regional competitions, the team members study a variety of historical facts and readings. If the team places at the state competition, there is an opportunity to be awarded a variety of scholarships to universities throughout the state of Florida.

In the 2014-2015 school year, the JSRH Black History Brain Bowl team placed 3rd overall in the state of Florida.
